Families of the five Pakistani nationals on board an oil vessel, Mt Matrix 1, abducted last Saturday at 40 nautical miles off the Bayelsa coast have told the management of the company, Matrix Energy, in Warri, Delta State, not to pay any ransom to the abductors to get them released, promising to take revenge on Nigerians in their hundreds in Pakistan, if any of the victims was killed.
The abducted victims include the Captain, Chief Officer, cook and two others. They were conveying automated gasoline oil, AGO, from Lagos to Eket, when they were abducted at 9pm.
First of all we have the plea from suspected boko haram leader Shekau to islamists in Afghanistan and other countries to come fight a war, then we have Pakistani threatening war on us, does it not make you wonder if we are at war?
Suicide bombing, towns
and villages getting blown up, allegations of extra-judicial killings by
the police and the military, kidnappings, terrorist attacks on
government establishments -- total confusion and a lack of solutions to
the violence is no longer just news, but a terrifying daily reality
show.
In the current wave of
violence, especially in the northern and middle belt of the country,
which has culminated in President Goodluck Jonathan declaring a state of
emergency in the three states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, one is at a
loss as to where the country is headed in its near future.
In the past, terrorists killings and mass bombings were all foreign news to us but now? We are seated in other countries' foreign news segment with the likes of Syria, Afghanistan...and other countries well reputed for terror..
What really is the way forward??
