Blackberry bringing BBM to Androids and iPhones.. Little too late?

Unknown  /  at  04:18  /  No comments

The world of mobile messaging apps has changed since the introduction of BBM in 2006, though the service has still has about 60 million users, this number is small compared to other mobile messaging apps like Whatsapp which has about 200 million users, China WeChat boasts of about 190 million active users, even Kik has about 50 million users.

This message is clear, the Smartphone world is moving away from BBM, but Blackberry's CEO Thorsten Heins chooses to believe otherwise. To avoid losing the messaging app world to its androids cousins, Blackberry has chosen to piggyback from the successes of its cousins and port their famed BBM to Androids and iPhones. Hopefully this strategy would help them hold their place in the messaging app world  even if the move is seen as a little too late.

They hope to launch the BBM for Androids, iPhones this summer.
