Being worth $20 billion is not moi-moi, as Aliko as so proven in his business which started in 1978. Dangote hails from Kano, was loaned N500,000 from his uncle Dantata back in 1977 having earned a degree in Cairo,Egypt. He was to pay back the loan in three years, he did the unthinkable and paid back in three months..from then onwards? I think we all know the rest.
Let's take a look at his achievements for those who do not know'
Dangote is;
-on Forbes as the richest man in Nigeria
- the richest man in Africa
-the richest black man alive
-the 25th richest man in the world
-the first African to cross the $20billion dollar mark.
If these achievements look mere to you, you are on a long thing...here are some facts about Dangote's achievements..
- If Dangote spends over 8 million naira daily, he will need over 1,000 years to spend all his money. Yes over One Thousand Years!!!
- If Dangote divided his wealth to all Nigerians, One Hundred and Seventy Million Nigerians would get an approximate of the approved ‘Minimum Wage’ each
- At the cost of $360,000,000 (National Stadium Abuja), Dangote’s wealth can build 56 stadiums in Nigeria, one for every state, and 20 in reserves.
- If Dangote was to invest in Governor Fashola’s electric railway plan for Lagos, his wealth would ensure the building of 57km rail lines in 17 states in Nigeria, able to move 600 people from one place to another in less than 30minutes.
- If Aliko was to invest in refining oil, he could build four of the $5billion refinery in Niger. This would increase production by an additional 20,000 barrels a day. Or he could build two of the $8billion refinery proposed in April which would jointly produce 800,000 barrels per day.
- Moving around for Aliko is not much of a problem, although this business mogul is driven around in a Toyota Jeep, his current worth can afford over 5,000 Lamborghini Veneno’s, 8,000 Bugatti Veyrons, 10,000 Aston Martin One-77’s, 14,000 Maybach Landaulet’s, and close to 30,000 Ferrari Enzo’s.
- Or if however Dangote chose to move around by air, he would still be able to afford 57 of the Air-Bus A340-300 owned by Russian Billionaire Alisher Usmanov, 86 of the Boeing 747-430 owned by Sultan of Brunei, 91 of the Boeing 747-400 owned by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, or 167 of the Boeing 767-33A/ER owned by Roman Abramovich.
Now, what Okporki sees in Dangote...
- Determination and Passion; he thrives on hard work for goodness sakes the 'dude' sleeps only from 2am-6am each day! some of us sleep twice that amount..
- The Power of a strong mission; you frequently might have heard him say stuff like 'My mission is; “To provide the basic need of over 150 million Nigerians”. If you haven't, check up his memoirs.
- The Power of a life purpose; What do you wanna be remembered for when you exit this world? food for thought.. well that's already 'food for action' for Dangote as he said in an interview..“After my death, I want to be remembered as Africa’s greatest industrialist.” 'Dude' you are already! biko
- The Power of strategy; He is a strategist to the core, heard the way he made a scrap-land a multimillion dollar port? or the way he built himself into the cores of leading parties?
Many might say 'what does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul'... I say 'what does it profit you to use that quote as an excuse to be lazy?'
